The Academic Year Housing Agreement is valid only during the Fall and Spring Semesters. All traditional residence halls are closed during Winter Break (although students continuing in the spring are not required to move out their belongings), but are open for the Thanksgiving holiday and Spring Break. Please note that a separate Housing Agreement is required for the Winter Break & Summer Break (See the below sections for more details).
Occupancy Periods for 2016–17
Specific Occupancy Periods for the 2016–17 Academic Year Are As Follow:
New Residential Students: 8:00am August 20, 2016–12:00 noon December 10, 2016
Returning Residential Students: 9:00am August 22, 2016–12:00 noon December 10, 2016
All Residential Students: 9:00am January 8, 2017–12:00 noon May 10, 2017*
* Students graduating or participating in Commencement may stay in residence until 12:00 noon on May 14, 2017.
The halls will close for winter break at 5PM on Saturday, December 10, and all resident IDs/access cards will be deactivated at that time. All residents should plan to check out of the halls by that time, or 24 hours after their last final exam, whichever comes first. Residents who do not abide by this policy may be assessed additional fines.
Residents in need of winter break housing must complete the application (available at the Housing Front Desk) and submit it to Director of Housing and Residence Life Justin Vacca (email@example.com) no later than noon on December 2. The rate for winter break housing is $840 or $30 per day.
The halls will re-open at noon on Sunday, January 8. All resident IDs and access cards will be re-activated at that time. Classes begin on Monday, January 9. Please see your resident assistant, Graduate Hall Director, or Director of Housing & Residence Life with any questions/concerns about winter break.
Important information about winter break housing:
- Regular residence hall policies will be enforced during the winter break period.
- Meal services will not be offered.
- The winter housing application is a contract. All rules and conditions as stated in the student handbook and housing contract/ application apply during winter break.

Summer Housing Eligibility
The Summer 2017 Housing Application will be available in Spring 2017.
Students must either be enrolled in one class per session and/or be working with a university office to live in the residence halls during the summer. Students working on campus must include a letter from their employers with their applications.
