HNU is proud of its deep Oakland roots, dating back to 1868. One of the most ethnically diverse cities in the U.S., Oakland provides endless opportunities for cross-cultural experiences. HNU students have the chance to join service projects in the Oakland community, such as volunteering at Planting Justice in East Oakland or at the Alameda Food Bank. Holy Names University also partners with Oakland businesses and nonprofits to provide our students with internship and experiential learning opportunities.
