C.O.L.O.R. event celebrated identity and inclusion

The Black Student Union hosted their 10th annual showcase event, C.O.L.O.R. (Celebrating our Legacy of Rhythm) on February 22 at Holy Names University. The event featured music, spoken word, rap, dance, and poetry, with art and food from local vendors.

HNU Students Discuss Community Service Work in Tutwiler, Mississippi

For the 13th year, HNU students traveled with faculty and staff to Tutwiler, Mississippi, to work with Habitat for Humanity to build a home for a community resident. About 39 percent of Tutwiler’s population lives below the poverty line. Most residents of Tutwiler do not have easy access to educational facilities, employment opportunities, and health care.

Students and Staff Volunteer for Day of Service at St. Vincent de Paul Community Center

HNU students and staff participated in a day of service at St. Vincent de Paul Community Center in Oakland on November 12. The day of service was part of Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week at HNU, and the opportunity was arranged through HNU’s Center for Social Justice and Civic Engagement.

The HNU volunteers helped prepare, cook, and serve hot meals.
