OAKLAND, CA (May 17, 2018) – Holy Names University announces the appointment of Steven Borg ’86 MA as chair of the board of trustees. He succeeds outgoing Board Chair Barbara Hood ’70, retired president and CEO of Northern California Presbyterian Homes & Services Inc.
Steve, a 10-year HNU board trustee, most recently served as vice chair along with state Supreme Court Justice Carol Corrigan ’70. A senior vice president and corporate marketing director with California Bank & Trust, a division of Zions Bancorporation, he has over 30 years of financial service industry experience, with a focus on marketing communications, strategy, product and channel management, and customer experience.
Among Steve’s core values is a strong belief that we stand on the shoulders of and benefit from the work of those who came before us. Sharing talents and time is a calling, he adds. “It was at HNU where I was introduced to the philosophy and values of the servant-leader,” he says. “It was an invitation to share one’s gifts in order to enrich the lives of others and build better organizations that ultimately create more just and caring communities and world.”
Says HNU President Michael Groener, “Steve’s commitment to the success of the University and its students is boundless. I know that Holy Names University is in capable hands with him at the helm of our board and that we will continue on the successful path that was forged by Barbara Hood in this role.”
In addition to the HNU board of trustees, Steve serves on the board of Oakland School for the Arts and is finance committee chair for Corpus Christi Church in Piedmont.
