Apply knowledge, skills, concepts and techniques in real-life settings

Applied Performance Placements
HNU’s Applied Sport and Performance Psychology program offers students the opportunity to work hands-on with individuals in groups in sport and performance settings. These settings include club sports, high schools, performance organizations and HNU’s athletic teams, among others. Participation in these placements is a key feature of our program! All placement experiences are supervised by faculty who are Certified Mental Performance Consultants (CMPC) through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP).
After they have passed several pre-requisite graduate courses during their first year, students will complete their first placement on HNU’s campus as part of the Intensive Placement. This is a 2-week summer program that is mandatory for all students to attend in-residence. The second and third placements are in the community local to the student. All students must be approved to take part in the placement program by the department.

The Applied Performance Placements provide the students with several opportunities, including:
- Applying the knowledge, skills, concepts and techniques learned in coursework in real-life settings
- Obtaining individual and group supervision mentorship from CMPC faculty
