Next Steps - Accepted International Students

Meet Your Oakland Family
Welcome to Holy Names University! We are so pleased you’ve chosen to join our community. Here is some information that will make your arrival as smooth as possible. Be sure to watch your email for more details. See you soon!
Before you arrive:
Submit your $100 enrollment deposit through your Holy Names application portal as soon as you decide to attend HNU. Your enrollment deposit secures your spot at HNU.
On-campus housing: If you want to live on campus, you must complete a housing application, which includes a meal plan contract. Submit your housing deposit to secure your room.
Off-campus housing: We recommend that you live on campus for at least one year. If you are planning to live off-campus, please keep in mind that renting in the Bay Area can be very expensive. Some good places to start searching are www.craigslist.org, ApartmentList.com, and www.apartments.com. If you will be using public transportation to get around, make sure that you can find an apartment that is accessible to public transportation and close enough to HNU.
International students living on campus can move in the day before they are scheduled to take the ALEKS math assessment and have their advising session. Check your HNU email or your portal for these dates and times.
Once you are on campus:
The ALEKS mathematics placement assessment will help you and your academic advisor determine your preparedness in math and choose the most appropriate courses for you. Look out for the date and time of your assessment in your HNU email.
During a Hawk Day, you’ll connect with fellow incoming students, explore ways to get involved at HNU, and learn more about the resources and people that are here to support you along the way. Please note that there are several requirements that must be completed prior to attending a Hawk Day. Look for details in your HNU email.
Fall Orientation (for students beginning Fall semester only): Meet your fellow students, along with HNU program directors, faculty, and staff who will prepare you for a successful journey to graduation.
International Student Orientation (for students beginning all semesters): Meet your international student advisor, other international students and submit required documents. Look out for an invitation from HNU’s Office of International Education in your HNU email.
