Prepare for a strong start

Welcome!

We're excited that you will soon be joining the HNU community! Below you will find helpful information to make transferring to HNU as smooth as possible. Also, be sure to watch your mail and email for more details. See you soon!

Next Steps

Submit your Enrollment Deposit

Submit your $100 enrollment deposit through your Holy Names application portal as soon as you decide to attend HNU. Your enrollment deposit secures your spot at HNU and opens the door to your participation in Hawk Day, our early registration program.

Submit your Financial Aid Application

Submitting either your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or California Dream Act Application helps us determine your eligibility for grants, scholarships, and additional financial aid. We can’t issue a financial aid award letter until you file your application, so get it in as soon as you can!

Submit your Official Transcripts

If you haven’t already, have official transcripts from ALL colleges and universities you attended sent directly to:

Holy Names University
Office of Undergraduate Admission
3500 Mountain Boulevard
Oakland, CA 94619

You may want to request your transcripts through Parchment, Inc., a credential request company that can assist you in sending electronic transcripts and other credentials directly to Holy Names University from other colleges and universities.

Sign up for your math placement assessment

All incoming HNU students take the ALEKS mathematics placement assessment.  Results will help you and your academic advisor determine your preparedness in math and choose the most appropriate courses for you. Sign up for math placement assessment.

Sign up for your English assessment

In addition to math, HNU requires students to take the English assessment. Please follow the instructions and submit a short essay through our English assessment Canvas page.

Meet with an academic advisor

All incoming students must meet with an academic advisor after completing the ALEKS placement assessment and before attending a Hawk Day. To schedule your appointment (over Zoom), visit https://hnuadvising.as.me.

Register for and attend a Hawk Day

During a Hawk Day, you’ll connect with fellow incoming students, explore ways to get involved at HNU and learn more about the resources and people that are here to support you along the way. Please note that there are several requirements that must be completed prior to attending a Hawk Day.

RSVP for Hawk Day.

Residential students: submit your housing deposit

All students planning to live on campus must complete a housing application.

Spring 2021 residence halls: In the ongoing interest of health and safety, the residence halls will continue to be single-occupancy during the spring semester. Students who opted not to live on campus in the fall may apply for the limited number of rooms available.

Transfer students living off-campus have the option to choose a meal plan only. To select a meal plan only, please contact Destany Charles, Director of Housing & Residential Life Charles@hnu.edu
