About Between the Lines
Conceived in the hills overlooking Oakland, one of the major hubs of political discourse in this nation, Between the Lines is an online literary journal publishing essays and non-fiction poetry. Based at Holy Names University and in line with its mission for social justice, Between the Lines publishes work that perceives the writer not just as a witness, but also as an actor on the stage of conscientious movements. We welcome prose and poetry with themes of politics, persecution, and social consciousness. We believe good art can arise not merely for art’s sake, but for humanity’s as well.
