Dr. Diana Lattimore, CMPC
Dr. Diana Lattimore is a Sport Psychology professor, Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC), and athlete at heart. Diana completed her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Southeast Missouri State University where she competed as a Division I collegiate gymnast, served on the athletic advisory board, and conducted research on burnout in sport. As a collegiate gymnast she suffered a major injury her freshman year, which sidelined her for 13-months. She returned her sophomore year to compete her remaining years; however, this experience led her to study sport psychology. She earned a master’s degree at the University of Memphis with a specialization in sport psychology (thesis: Motivational Perspectives of Female Gymnasts and Their Coaches). She completed her Ph.D. at the University of South Carolina in exercise science at the School of Public Health. She is an associate professor of kinesiology at the University of San Francisco where she has taught for 16 years.
Diana’s research interests focus on examining the psychological aspects of sport, and specifically the psychological impact of injury on athletes. She has been invited to speak at multi-disciplinary symposiums and webinars on the mental aspects of sport, regional gymnastic congresses, mental performance summits, and university athletic training groups. She has been interviewed by Fitness magazine and Sports Injury Alert, and is also a board member for Gymnastics Medicine: Education & Research.
Diana has supervised graduate students obtaining CMPC and has also been working with athletes and coaches all over the world for over 10 years. She specializes in building confidence, overcoming fears and performance anxiety, working through injury, and building mental toughness.
In her spare time Diana enjoys spending time with her family, her pups, being outdoors in or around water, paddle boarding, and chasing our little one around!
