Jenny Girard Malley
Jenny came to Holy Names University in January 2016 as Co-Director of Campus Ministry after a diversity of experiences working in parishes, nonprofits and secondary schools across the Bay Area. A native of Venice, California, Jenny relishes the outdoors, roller skating and people watching on the beach of her hometown. She moved to the Bay Area for college attending both Santa Clara University (BS Combined Sciences/Minor Theatre Arts) and the University of San Francisco (MA Theology). An avid spiritual seeker herself, Jenny appreciates the intersection and interdependence of the world’s faith traditions, particularly how mindfulness, mysticism and meditation are illuminated within Christian, Jewish and Muslim practice in ways that enhance inner stillness and personal wellness.
Passionate about how social justice is influenced by personal faith, Jenny participated as a Jesuit Volunteer Corps member after her undergraduate studies and lived on the East Coast working in several amazing nonprofit organizations including a family shelter, women’s prenatal clinic, regional food bank and a national service model program. Integrating service into spiritual searching is a huge part of Jenny’s inspiration as is the empowerment of young adults to name their own experiences of justice and spirituality. Jenny hopes to embody this perspective through her campus ministry vocation and in her professional work as a Certified Spiritual Director.
Jenny lives in Oakland with her husband of a dozen years and their very silly cat, the Fantastic Frisco. Hosting her family for meals of laughter and joy, especially all her nieces, nephews and cousins, is one of her favorite pass times as is reading, writing and walking along the Oceanside at sunset.
