Rex received his Ph.D. in Education, and his B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He also holds an M.A. in English Composition and a Certificate in Teaching Post-secondary Reading from San Francisco State University.
Rex has been designing and teaching courses for over nine years. As a Ph.D. student at Berkeley, Rex taught several courses in the undergraduate Education minor. Rex was a Chancellor’s Scholar Fellow for work in the course, “Critical Studies in Education,” which was part of the American Cultures Engaged Scholarship Program for University-Community Service-Learning initiatives. He also collaborated with a team of faculty and graduate students to design and develop courses for an innovative, fully online undergraduate education minor. Rex has also published and presented his research at conferences on teaching and learning.
Before pursuing his Ph.D., Rex taught courses in English Composition and Reading for four years at Berkeley City College, the College of Alameda, and San Francisco State University.
At HNU, Rex assists faculty and course instructors with the design and development of online courses for the Digital Learning Initiative. He looks forward to collaborating with instructors, helping them to utilize the online space in innovative ways that promote rich and engaging learning experiences for students.
