Ryan Gliha, former acting U.S. Ambassador to Qatar, shares his most interesting experiences as a diplomat and discusses how you too can serve your country throughout the world.

He is currently serving as the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomat in Residence – Northwest, conducting outreach and recruitment in Alaska, northern California, Oregon, and Washington. He has been a diplomat for 20 years, specializing in cultural affairs and public diplomacy in the Middle East. He has served in U.S. embassies and consulates in Beirut (Lebanon), Doha (Qatar), Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), London (United Kingdom) and Sana’a (Yemen). He speaks Arabic, English, French, Persian, and Uzbek. He holds a BA and MA in Religious Studies from, respectively, Arizona State University and the University of Pennsylvania.
