Right-handed pitcher Aiden McIntyre ’18 scored a post-graduation homerun in 2018, becoming the first Hawk drafted by a Major League Baseball team. With 105 strikeouts in 2018, McIntyre led the PacWest in the category during the regular season. He finished his Hawks career with 155 strikeouts—the most in HNU Baseball history.
In the third day of the 2018 MLB Draft, the Oakland A’s selected McIntyre in the 22nd round. The A’s have assigned him to their rookie farm team in Arizona. “From his first day on campus to the last pitch he threw, nobody has improved as much as Aiden,” said Esteban Contreras, HNU baseball head coach. “His leadership and hard work will leave a lasting impression with our program for years to come. We hope Aiden is the first of many.
